Rajeev Joseph had initiated to form an organization called ‘International Public Library’, based in New Delhi, India, which is registered under ‘Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, Govt. of India on 20th September 1996. There are 11 members in the national committee from different states of India, and Rajeev Joseph is the President. The first and most important aims of the Library is to root out the illiteracy from the villages in India through well planned and organized projects of 25 years long term, so to lead the villages into a 100% literacy. To raise the initial funds for the library activities in India, the National Committee of Library decided that to open a public library in Sharjah with the support of NRIs. For this purpose, Rajeev Joseph migrated to UAE on Employment Visa in a Book Shop in Dubai on 31st October 2006 and he managed to find interested NRIs for the activities of International Public Library. With the support of NRIs in Dubai & Sharjah, he opened a Public Library in Sharjah, named ‘Five Star Library’ on 14th April 1998. Unfortunately, the library faced lot of financial crisis, but Rajeev managed to run the library for 3 and half years, then the library closed on 11th June 2001. Now Rajeev has already started the same 'International Public Library' activities in selected villages in India with the support of general public.
